[Pcalumnixctrack] PC update

This past weekend the Providence College track team traveled to Philadelphia for the 115th running of the Penn Relays. Providence College competed in the Men’s Championship of America Distance Medley and 4xMile alone with a few athletes in the 5k on Thursday distance night.

On Thursday night, Tom Webb and Nick Barao competed in the college section of the 5k. Tom Webb finished 2nd overall with a time of 14:22.56 and Nick finished 25th in 14:55.01.

On Friday, in the Distance Medley with a team consisting of Junior Hayden McLaren, Freshman Tom Manglaviti, Senior Charlie Dewey, and Freshman David McCarthy finished 4th overall with a time of 9:37.76.  Hayden led of the 1200m leg with a split of 2:58.7 handing off to Tom on the 400m leg who split a 49.4. Charlie took the stick next and ran the fastest 800m split of the day for the DMR with a time of 1:48.5. David maintained PC’s position and ran the 5th fastest 1600m split of the day with a time of 4:01.2.

On Saturday, PC next competed in the Championships of America 4xMile with a team consisting of Senior Richard Yeates, Freshman David McCarthy, Freshman Dominic Channon, and Junior Hayden McLaren. Richard led of the 4xMile race with a great leg, handing off 5th with a split of 4:06.8. David took the stick next and took over the lead with the fastest split of the day in 4:02.1. Dominic was the third leg for PC with a split of 4:10.7 and Hayden anchored for the Friars with the 6th fastest split of the day with a time of 4:03.4. The team ended up finishing 3rd overall in 16:22.95 just short of Virginia with a time of 16:22.49 and Arkansas won the race in 16:16.11.
