October 16, 2009- This past Friday, the women’s team traveled to Penn State University for the PSU Open and the men’s team had off. However Mother Nature had different plans for the meet, with almost a half a foot of snow and ice covering the course Penn State was forced to cancel the meet<http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/c-xc/spec-rel/101609aab.html>. With the weather hitting heavy in State College, a meet was quickly organized about 1 hour east at Lock Haven University where there was no snow on the ground.

After re-organizing and traveling down to Lock Haven University, the women took on 18 of the original 32 teams scheduled to race at the PSU Open. West Virginia ranked #3 national, won the team competition with 27 points with hosted school Penn State (#16) finished second with 56 points and Providence College (#25) was third with 74 points.

Freshman Shelby Greany was the first finisher for PC with a time of 20:50 for the 6K course with Sophomore Hannah Davidson in seventh with a time of 20:57. Junior Emma Perron was 18th overall with a time of 21:17 and Senior Breffini Twohig was 21st with a time of 21:23. Senior Krystal Douglas rounded out the top five with a 25th place finish with a time of 21:30.
