September 26, 2009 - This weekend, with majority of PC's roster training for the Notre Dame Invitational next Friday October 2nd, PC traveled with a limited squad to Stanley Park in New Britain, Connecticut for the Central Connecticut State University Ted Own Invitational.

In the Men's race, Sophomore Matt Terry won the invitational title with a time of 25:36.82 for a "long measured 8k".  Junior Stephen Hankinson was second overall in a time of 26:11.16 with Freshman Ahmed Ali third overall in 26:11.92. Freshman Patrick DeSabato was fourth overall in the race with a time of 26:14.45, with Sophomore Corey Brunelle finishing fifth overall in 26:25.87. Having all five scores in the top five, PC earned a perfect score of 15 points over Central Connecticut State University with 47 points and Bryant with 78 points. From the beginning of the race, PC was out front with Senior Michael Anderson taken the first mile out in 4:47 with Terry and Hankinson closely behind in 4:53. Hankinson then took over the lead pushing the pace through two miles in 9:58. Terry took the lead before three miles and come through in 15:00 and kept the lead until the finish, hitting the 4-mile mark in 20:06 and 5-mile mark in 25:02.

In the Women's Race, Freshman Darlene Gaudet was PC's tops finisher in 8th place overall in a time of 18:45.22 for the 5k course. Darlene started off the race controlled in the back of the lead back hitting the 1-mile mark in 5:45 and worked her way up the field to hit 2-miles in 12:00 and 3-miles in 18:14. Junior Christine Conley was 10th overall with a time of 19:05.57 with Senior Amie Schumacher closely behind in 11th in 19:06.65. In the team competition PC scored 78 points to finish tied for third overall with Bryant. URI won the team competition with 32 points with CCSU second with 69 points and AIC was fifth overall with 101 points.

Up next for the Friars will be the much anticipated Notre Dame Invitational<http://www.und.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/nd/sports/c-xc/auto_pdf/09xcndiinfo> in South Bend Indiana, on Friday October 2nd . The Women will race at 4:15 pm and men at 5pm, where the top-8 individuals for PC's men and women team will compete.
