Former Friar Katie DiCamillo to Run for Team USA
Alum to represent nation at Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country Challenge

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – Former Providence College cross country and track standout Katie DiCamillo ’09 (Garden City, N.Y.) has been selected by USA Track and Field to represent her country. Camillo will join seven other harriers on the U.S. senior women’s team that will compete in the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country – International Challenge on January 7, 2012 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Challenge will feature teams from the United States, Great Britain, and Northern Ireland, as well as a select European team.

The race will be DiCamillo’s first time representing Team USA in international competition. Her Friar resume boasts several achievements, including the 5000-meter title at the 2010 ECAC outdoor championships and the 3000-meter crown at the 2010 New England Indoor Championships. Also in 2010, she ran a time of 33:57:10 at the Mt. Sac Relays to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The current editions of the Friar track and field programs will return to action after the semester break. The women’s team will compete at the Little Rhody Invitational in Kingston, R.I. on January 21. The men will challenge at the Greater Boston Invitational on January 22.
