Providence College Track Standout Hannah Davidson Named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week

Senior earns honor after Penn Relays victory.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior Hannah Davidson (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has been named Women’s BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week by the conference.

The honor follows Davidson’s performance on April 26 at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Davidson won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:13.07, outracing the next closest competitor by 1.2 seconds. The Friar’s time is the second best in the BIG EAST this season and 16th in the nation.

The effort easily surpassed both the BIG EAST and ECAC qualifying standards.

It is the latest in a line of accomplishments for the distance standout. Last indoor season, she earned Second-Team All-American status in the 3000-meters. More recently, she became the New England indoor champion in the mile.

Davidson and the rest of the qualifying Friars will now run in the conference championships, May 4 through May 6, in Tampa, Florida.
