Providence College Women's Track Begins Competition At New England Championships

McCarthy claimed first-place in the 1000 meter run prelims.



BOSTON, Mass. - The Providence College women's track and field began competition at the New England Championships today (Feb. 28) in Boston, Mass. The Friars earned spots in the 800 and 1000 meter run finals.



Sophomore Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run with an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 2:14.06.



In the 1000 meter run, senior Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) captured first overall in the preliminary race to qualify for the 1000 meter run final. McCarthy finished the race in an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 2:52.89 for a personal-record.



The Friars will continue action at the New England Championships tomorrow, March 1 in Boston, Mass.
