The Providence College Men's And Women's Indoor Track Team Compete at URI Sorlien Invitational



Lauren Mullins won the 3,000 meters in a personal best time of 9:45.88.



KINGSTOWN, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's indoor track and field team competed at the URI Sorlien Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24.



The women's team had three individual event winners, including Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia) in the mile (5:01.64), Bryanna Allison (Lowell, Mass.) in the 1,000 meters (3:00.35) and Lauren Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y.) in the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 9:45.88. In addition, Ilarda, Allison, Caile Kohlbrenner (Sparkill, N.Y.) and Devyn Pryor (Dartmouth, Mass.) were members of the 4x800 meter team that won its event in a time of 9:24.74.



On the men's side, Joe Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) won the 800 meters in a time of 1:54.59, while Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England), Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland), Vercollone and Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) were members of the 4x800 meter relay team that won its event (7:51.32).



The following athletes also finished among the top-3 in their respective events:

Taylor Corder - 500 meters, 1:18.03 (3rd)

Caitlin Abelseth - 800 meters, 2:20.96 (3rd)

Emily Bushey - Mile, 5:04.77 (3rd)

Mackenzie Barry - 3,000 meters, 10:05.19 (3rd)

Harvey Dixon - 800 meters, 1:54.79 (2nd)

Julian Oakley - 1,000 meters, 2:30.06 (2nd)

Phil Reid - High Jump, 1.99m (2nd)



The Friars are back in action next week (Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31) at the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass. The women will compete on Friday, while the men will feature on Saturday.
