Providence College Men’s Track Competes At Terrier Invitational
Graduate-student Jordan Mann dipped under 8 minutes in the 3,000 meters for a personal best.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College men’s track team competed at the Boston University Terrier Invitational yesterday (Jan. 30).

To kick-off the events, seniors Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) and Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England), along with freshman Michael O’Leary (Melville, N.Y.) competed in the 1,000 meters. Vercollone captured second-place overall with a time of 2:25.71, while O’Leary and Dixon finished fourth (2:26.54) and sixth (2:27.19), respectively.

Junior James Campbell (Cumberland, Maine) captured a life-time best in the 800-meters with a 1:54.60 performance, while sophomore Brian Zied (Ramsey, N.J.) also ran a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles (8.88).

The lifetime bests kept coming with graduate-student Jordan Mann (St. Louis, Mo.) dipping under 8 minutes (7:58.72) in the 3,000 meters to finish fifth. Also in the 3,000 meters, graduate-student Liam Hillery (Smithfield, R.I.) kicked off the season finishing in a time of 8:14.12.

To finish off the evening, junior Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland) competed in the 5,000 meters, finishing in a time of 14:14.21 for 11th-place.

The Friars will return to action on February 6 when they travel to Kingston, R.I. for the URI Coaches Invitational.
