Providence Cross Country Competes At CCSU Mini Meet
The Friars raced their "B" team to decide BIG EAST team.

New Britain, Conn. - The Providence College men's and women's team competed at the CCSU Mini Meet on Oct. 21. The Friars compete annually at the Mini Meet to decide the final three roster spots for the team that will compete at the BIG EAST Championships.  The women's team finished eighth in the varsity 3k race while the men finished fourth in the 5k varsity race.

Highlighting the women's varsity race was the performance by senior Keelin Hollowood (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). In her finest race as a Friar, Hollowood finished second overall with a time of 10:12.5. to solidify a spot on the BIG EAST roster. Graduate student Samantha Jones (Randolph, N.J.) and freshman Alexandra DeCicco (Sachem, N.Y.) earned the final two spots for the BIG EAST team by finishing 21st (10:39.3) and 22nd (10:41.6), respectively.

The men's team had three top ten finishers with sophomore Michael O'Leary (Melville, N.Y.), junior Thomas O'Neill (Middletown, N.Y.) and sophomore Austin Scola (Medfield, Mass.) finishing in fifth (15:15.4), eighth (15:19.3) and ninth place (15:24.2), respectively. O'Leary, O'Neill and Scola will all join the Providence "A" team at the BIG EAST Championships.

The Friars next race at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y. for the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 28.
