Providence Women’s Cross Country Ranked In National Poll

The Friars open up the season ranked seventh in the NCAA.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released the first National Rankings poll of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 29. The first poll of the season has the Providence women ranked seventh. The rankings are based off of a poll of coaches throughout the NCAA.

The Friar women return four of their top five runners from the team that finished 13th at last year’s NCAA Championships. The Friars also has two-time All-American Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) returning to the team after redshirting last season.

The teams ranked in front of Providence are Colorado (1), defending champion Oregon (2), Michigan (3), New Mexico (4), Stanford (5), and North Carolina State (6).

The Providence men received votes in the national poll but sit just outside of the top 30 teams.

Both the men and women open up their seasons at the annual UNH Dual meet on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Durham, New Hampshire.
