Providence Women’s Cross Country Ranked Seventh In Latest Poll

The Friars moved up in the rankings after a strong performance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released the fifth National and Regional Rankings polls of the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The latest poll saw the Providence women remain ranked seventh in the nation and first in the Northeast region.



This week saw major changes in the rankings due to the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the Adidas Pre-National Invitational. Colorado, Michigan and Stanford all slid down the rankings making space for some change in the top ten. Oregon now sits atop the rankings and is followed by New Mexico (2), Colorado (3), San Francisco (4), NC State (5), Arkansas (6), Providence (7), Boise State (8), Penn State (9) and Michigan (10).



The Friars will travel to Stanley Park in New Britain, Conn. for the annual CCSU Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 20. Providence annually sends a “B” to the Mini Meet in order to solidify the BIG EAST Championship team. The men will race a 5k while the women will compete in a 3k.
