<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">
Arkansas</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> from June 11-13<sup>th</sup>. The Friars qualified three athletes, Danette Doetzel in 10,000m, Hannah Davidson in Steeple, and David McCarthy in the 1500m.</font></p>

<o:p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Danette Doetzel ended her PC career winning the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m. Danette entered the Championships ranked 4<sup>th</sup> in the NCAA and ran a very tactical
race not taking the lead until the last 1000m of the race. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Mile splits</i></b>: 5:14.42, 10:30.61 (5:16.19), 15:56.27 (5:25.66), 21:26.16 (5:29.89), 27:00.45 (5:34.29), 32:14.31 (5:13.86). Danette sat patiently for the early part of the race, with last year’s NCAA Champion Lisa
Koll of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Iowa</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">
State</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> leading the race. After more then half way Koll fell off the lead and the race leaders then went back and forth between Alex Becker of Tulsa and Clara Grant from West Virginia. Danette didn’t take the lead until the last 1000m,
when she broke open the field and won by more than 14 seconds. Danette has become the 6<sup>th</sup> PC female athlete to win an NCAA title under Coach Ray Treacy.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Hannah Davidson ran a very aggressive race in the trials of the women steeple. With a fast pace by the early leader and the top 5 advancing to the finals, Hannah put herself
in good position to advance running most of the race between 5<sup>th</sup> and 6<sup>th</sup>. Over the last few laps she was caught by a few runners to finish 9<sup>th</sup> in the heat and 18<sup>th</sup> overall in a time of 10:24.83.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">David McCarthy led the first section of the 1500m trials for the first 600m to be taken over by the indoor NCAA Champion Lee Emanuel for the next 800m. David ended
up finishing 3:41.71 in 5<sup>th</sup> place and qualified for the finals. <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">
<i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Splits</i></b>: <span style="mso-fareast-font-family: ArialUnicodeMS">
43.82, 1:43.49(59.67), 2:41.20(57.72), 3:41.71(1:00.52). In the finals David finished 12<sup>th</sup> with a time of 3:44.55. Splits: 46.93(46.93) 1:46.71(59.78) 2:45.19(58.48) 3:44.55(59.37).<o:p></o:p></span></font></font></p>
