<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">College</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> women’s cross country team outraced 44 other programs to claim victory at the 38<sup>th</sup>-annual Paul Short Invitational, presented by Brooks. Meanwhile, with some of their number idle this week,
the 17<sup>th</sup>-ranked <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Providence</st1:City></st1:place> men still claimed sixth place out of 45 teams.

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">The last time the
<st1:City w:st="on">Providence</st1:City> women won the prestigious event, hosted by
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Lehigh</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">
University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> at the Goodman Campus Course, was 1995, the same year they went on to win the NCAA Championship.

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">This year’s Friars took four of the top 12 spots despite a huge field of 396 runners. Their team score of 101 points was three better than the second-place team, BIG EAST
rival and defending national champions, Villanova (104). </font></p>

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman"><st1:City w:st="on">Providence</st1:City> was paced by sophomore Emily Sisson (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Chesterfield</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Mo.</st1:State></st1:place>). The 2010 All-American completed the 6-kilometer endeavor in third place overall. Her time of 20:20 was 10 seconds off the overall winner, Mimi Bogdana of Villanova.

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Sisson’s classmate Laura Nagel (<st1:City w:st="on">Napier</st1:City>,
<st1:country-region w:st="on">New Zealand</st1:country-region>) was close behind, clocking in at 20:36 to place sixth overall, just ahead of the ninth-place effort of senior Hannah Davidson (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Saratoga Springs</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">N.Y.</st1:State></st1:place>) and her crossing of 20:51. Another 2010 All-American, junior Shelby Greany (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Suffern</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">N.Y.</st1:State></st1:place>), was 12<sup>th</sup> overall in 20:57 to complete the Friars grip at the top of the field.

<st1:country-region w:st="on">Australia</st1:country-region></st1:place>) rounded out the scoring for PC, checking in at 21:49 at 71<sup>st</sup> overall.

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">On the men’s side, the Friars were paced by senior Dominic Channon (Nelson, New Zealand), who finished the 8-kilometer course in ninth place out of the massive field of 402
harriers. Running in his second meet of the season, Channon crossed in 24:21, 26 seconds behind the overall winner, Paul Chelimo of UNC Greensboro.

<st1:country-region w:st="on">Ireland</st1:country-region></st1:place>) turned in his second strong performance of the season, claiming 14<sup>th</sup> in 24:40. Classmate Ben Connor (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City>,
<st1:country-region w:st="on">England</st1:country-region></st1:place>) was 53<sup>rd</sup> in the team scoring and 54<sup>th</sup> overall, clocking in at 25:14.

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Junior Ahmed Ali (<st1:City w:st="on">Boston</st1:City>, Mass,) scored in 78<sup>th</sup> place (25:24) and freshman Liam Hillery (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Smithfield</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">R.I.</st1:State></st1:place>) rounded out the scoring in 93<sup>rd</sup> (25:31).</font></p>

Oklahoma</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> claimed four of the top seven places to claim the team victory with 34 points.
