<st1:State w:st="on">MASS.</st1:State></strong></st1:place> – Several members of the Providence College men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in the New England Championships Saturday, with the men grabbing 12<sup>th</sup> out of 43 squads and the
women placing 12<sup>th</sup> out of 39. </font></font></p>

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">Both squads held many of the number idle in anticipation for next weekend’s
<st1:place w:st="on">Wisconsin</st1:place> adidas Invitational. </font></p>

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">The Friar men, currently ranked 24<sup>th</sup> in the nation, were paced by freshman Liam Hillery (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Smithfield</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">R.I.</st1:State></st1:place>), who finished 18<sup>th</sup> out of a 282-runner field. Hillery completed the 4.95-mile course, at Boston’s Franklin Park, in 25:15. His time was 1:03 behind the individual winner, AIC’s Glarius Rop (24:12).

<st1:country-region w:st="on">New Zealand</st1:country-region>; 25:30) crossed 26<sup>th</sup> and 27<sup>th</sup>, respectively, followed by senior Corey Brunelle (<st1:City w:st="on">Woonsocket</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">R.I.</st1:State>; 26:37) who scored in 103<sup>rd</sup>. Freshman Luke Perron (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">West Hartford</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Conn.</st1:State></st1:place>; 26:52) rounded out the scoring in 124<sup>th</sup>.</font></font></p>

<st1:State w:st="on">N.Y.</st1:State></st1:place>), who collected 25<sup>th</sup> place out of 269 runners. She completed the 5-kilometer endeavor in 18:30, 1:12 behind the winner,
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Boston</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">
University</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>’s Katie Matthews (17:18). </font></p>

<st1:State w:st="on">N.Y.</st1:State></st1:place>; 18:58) in 56<sup>th</sup>. Freshman Julie Solimine (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Haverill</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Mass.</st1:State></st1:place>; 19:21) crossed in 86<sup>th</sup>. Sophomore Elizabeth DeVivo (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Riverside</st1:City>,
<st1:State w:st="on">Conn.</st1:State></st1:place>; 20:01) rounded out the scoring in 133<sup>rd</sup>.
