Zealand) has won the 1500-meters at the New Zealand Track and Field Championships. The meet is serving as the nation's Olympic Trials. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; ">The senior crossed the finish line in 3:54.37 after a tactical race, outkicking former Friar Hayden McLaren ’09 (Christchurch, New Zealand) who was second in 3:55.03.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; ">Matthews will still have to better the Olympic standard in the event of 3:35.5 to earn a berth on the New Zealand Olympic team at the London Summer Games. He will take aim at that mark during
