<p class="MsoNormal"><b>STONY BROOK, N.Y. - </b>The nationally-ranked Providence College women's cross country team were victorious at the Wolfie Invitational and the men took second behind No. 1 Wisconsin, on the campus of Stony Brook University on Saturday,
September 15.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">On the women's side, the seventh-ranked Friars earned the top-three places and rounded out their score with runners in sixth and 12<sup>th</sup> for a total of 24 points. The trio of senior Shelby Greany (Suffern, N.Y.), junior Laura Nagel
(Napier, New Zealand), and freshman Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) ran together and led the pack wire to wire. Officially, Greany was the first to complete the 5-kilometer endeavor, clocking in at 17:42.11, just ahead of Nagel's 17:41.58 and Collin’s
17:42.30.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Friar senior Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.; 18:38.27) followed shortly in sixth-place, ahead of junior Erin Murphy (Easton, Mass) who placed 12<sup>th</sup> with a time of 18:56.81.

<p class="MsoNormal">It was, “another great effort from our women’s team,” said head coach Ray Treacy. “We were very encouraged by the performance of the three ladies up front, especially the birthday girl, Sarah.”</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Friar men also held some of their number idle, yet still claimed a first place finish from sophomore Shane Quinn (Waterford, Ireland), leading the race with a time of 25:24.45. The following five positions went to defending national
champions, Wisconsin, but senior captain Ahmed Ali (Boston, Mass.; 26:01.63) and sophomore Liam Hillery (Smithfield, R.I.; 26:03.66) both had top-10 finishes. They were followed closely by freshman Christian Costello who came in 11<sup>th</sup> with a time
of 26:04.19. Sophomore Benjamin Connor (Derby, England; 26:29.68) rounded out the Friars top-five placing 17<sup>th</sup>.

The top five Friars registered a total of 47 points, finishing in second on the day.

<p class="MsoNormal">“Today was a big win for Shane!” says Treacy. “We’re happy with the scorers behind him giving the fact that we were missing Lee Harvey and Johnny (Hopkins).”</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Friars will have another race next weekend on Saturday, September 22, when both squads compete in the Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain, Conn.</p>
