the 2013 New England Indoor Track Championships at Boston University in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 22-23. The meet will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, and resume at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">The Friars will be running in eight events on Fri., Feb. 22, including the men’s and women’s 500-meters, 1,000-meters, 5,000-meters and distance medley relay.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">For the women’s side, sophomore Caitlin Abelseth (Voorheesville, N.Y.) will be competing in the women’s 500-meters.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">Junior Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) will compete in the 1,000-meters, alongside classmates Elizabeth DeVivo (Riverside, Conn.) and Molly McCann (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) on Friday. McCarthy’s
qualifying time of 2:55.02 from the BU Terrier Invitational on Jan. 25 is the third fastest qualifying time heading into race day. Last year at the Championship, McCarthy placed fifth with a time of 2:56.16.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">Junior Erin Murphy (Easton, Mass.) and senior Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) will both be competing in the 5,000-meters on Friday. Murphy qualified with the sixth fastest time of 17:30.31 at the BIG EAST
Championship last weekend and Roecker qualified with the third fastest time of 16:54.90. Murphy finished sixth last year with a time of 17:44.97.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">The women’s distance medley relay team will also compete on Friday. Their time of 11:21.02 from the BIG EAST Championship is the second fastest qualifying time behind BIG EAST foe Connecticut, with a
time of 11:06.69. The relay team is currently ranked 18<sup>th</sup> in the nation heading into the event.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">On the men’s side, junior Chris Booker (Philadelphia, Penn.) will be representing the Friars in the men’s 500-meters.<o:p></o:p></font></p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">Senior Alex Wallace (<span style="background-color: white; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;">Waipukarau, New Zealand), freshman Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand)
and freshman Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) will compete in the 1,000-meters. Former Friar Mark Carroll currently holds the all-time New England Championship record in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:20.63 from the 1994 Championship.</span><o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">Sophomore Liam Hillery (Smithfield, R.I.), senior Ali Ahmed (Boston, Mass.) and graduate student Anthony Gonsalves (Pawtucket, R.I.) will compete in the 5,000-meters. Hillery has the third best qualifying
time with a time of 14:34.41 from the BU Terrier Invitational. Ali competed in the same event in last year’s championship and finished fourth with a time of 14:39.44. Former Friar Martin Fagan holds the all-time New England Championship record in the 5,000-meters
with a time of 13:55.02 from the 2007 Championship.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3"> </font></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing"><font face="Myriad Pro" size="3">The men’s distance medley relay team will be the last team to compete on Friday. The relay team currently has the best qualifying time at the championship with a time of 9:49.26 from the BIG EAST Championship
last week. Their time currently ranks them 19<sup>th</sup> in the nation. The Friars also hold the all-time New England Championship record in this event with a time of 9:36.64 from 2007.<o:p></o:p></font></p>
