<p dir="ltr" align="justify">STONY BROOK, N.Y. - </b>The Providence College men’s cross country team claimed the top-three spots today, Sept. 14, at the Stony Brook Invitational to earn a first place finish out of the four competing schools. The men edged 18th-ranked
Columbia with 27 points. </p>

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">Junior Shane Quinn (Waterford, Ireland) led the Friars in the win with a first place finish in the 8K race. Quinn finished with a time of 24:38.37 just moments ahead of graduate student Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn.) and classmate
Benjamin Connor (Derby, England), who finished with times of 24:48.89 and 24:51.04, respectively.

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">After claiming the top-three spots, the Friars earned another top-ten finish in junior Liam Hillery (Smithfield, R.I.) who crossed the finish line ninth with a time of 25:08.07. Junior Brian Doyle (Swansea, Mass.) was the last Friar
to score with a 12th place finish in a time of 25:32.29. </p>

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">Sophomore Christian Costello (Ridgewood, N.J.) followed Doyle with a 13th place finish with a time of 25:36.47. Freshmen Jon Estrada (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Jake Feinstein (Sandy Hook, Conn.) made their collegiate debuts for the
Friars with 26th and 31st place finishes, respectively. Estrada ran the race in a time of 26:30.50, while Feinstein crossed the finish line at 26:41.55.</p>

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">Sophomores Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.), Brendan Sullivan (Foxboro, Mass.) and Jake Meredith (Wellfleet, Mass.) finished in times of 26:51.51, 27:13.87 and 27:18.75, respectively. Freshman Billy Bragg was the last Friar to
cross the finish line with a time of 27:22.70. </p>

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">"It was a very good race for the men, as Columbia is ranked 18th in the NCAA," Assistant Coach Kevin Myles shared on the win. "With Harvey in the mix and Brian Doyle at 100%, we will be even stronger."

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">Providence finished three points ahead of Columbia (30), who took second place, Stony Brook finished third with 86 points and Marist came in fourth with 108.

<p dir="ltr" align="justify">The Friars are back in action on Friday, Sept. 27, when the team will travel to Boston, Mass. to compete in the Boston College Invitational. The meet will be a good indicator for the team as they will face nationally ranked competitors
such as Oregon and Wisconsin. </p>
