NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the 2015 NCAA Div. I Indoor Track & Field regional athletes of the year on March 6. Of those student-athletes receiving regional honors, Providence College
track athlete Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named the 2015 Northeast Region Female Track Athlete of the Year. The regional award is determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.

This season, Sisson broke the NCAA Indoor 5,000 meter record in a solo run at the BIG EAST Championships on Feb. 28. Her time, 15:12.22, makes her the favorite in the 5,000 meters going into this weekend’s NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Sisson
also will run the 3,000 meters at the Championships. She will contend for a national title in that event too, with the second-fastest time in the field (8:52.60).
