<strong style="font-size: 18pt;">Providence College Men’s And Women’s Track Open Spring Season

<strong>The Friars split the men’s and women’s squad at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh N.C. and the Stony Brook Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y. for their opening weekend.

<p><strong>PROVIDENCE, R.I.</strong> – The Providence College men’s and women’s track teams opened up their outdoor track season this weekend, competing in two different meets. Nine Friars competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. yesterday (March 27),
while the rest of the squad traveled to Stony Brook, N.Y. today (March 28) to compete at the Stony Brook Invitational.

Sophomore Trevor Crawley highlighted the weekend with a huge 22-second personal best in the 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays. Crawley finished 18th in a time of 14:13.30. Also in the 5,000 meters, senior Shane Quinn finished 15th with a time of 14:08.99.<br>
<br>
For the women in the 5,000 meters, junior Lauren Mullins ran a personal best time of 16:16.94 for ninth place, while freshman Katie Lembo made her 5,000 meter debut with a 16:19.49 performance for 10th. Graduate-student Laura Nagel also finished 12<sup>th</sup>
in a time of 16:21.99. All three women, as well as Quinn and Crawley all ran times that would have qualified them for the 2014 NCAA First Round. With the main goal of the season to qualify for the NCAA First Round, these athletes all have a great chance of
achieving that goal this year. <br>

Junior Harvey Dixon ran the 1,500 meters earlier yesterday evening, finishing 12<sup>th</sup> in a time of IC4A qualifying time of 3:50.65.<br>
<br>
Other performances at Raleigh Relays included sophomore Emily Bushey in the 1500 meters (4:28.97) and freshman Mackenzie Barry in the 5,000 meters (17:12.76). Both women achieved ECAC qualifying standards.<br>
<br>
At Stony Brook, the Friars faced cold and snowy conditions, coming away with three first-place performances. Allesandra Forresti won the 400 meters, Molly Keating won the 1,500 meters and Caile Kohlbrenner won the 2,000 meter steeple chase.

The Friars are back in action when they host the Friar Invitational (their only home meet of the year) at the Ray Treacy Track in the evening of Friday, April 10. <br>
