<p><strong>PROVIDENCE, R.I.</strong> – The Providence College men’s and women’s track teams hosted the Second Annual Friar Invitational tonight (Friday, April 10). Stony Brook, Brown, Fairfield and Bryant all had athletes compete at the meet.<br>
<br>
To kick-off the running races, the women’s 400 meters featured seniors Kelsey Dermody (Norton, Mass.) and Caroline Callaghan (Rochester, N.H.). Dermody collected the win crossing the line in a time of 59.63, just ahead of Callaghan (59.68).
<br>
<br>
Providence swept the top-3 spots in the women’s 800 meters. Junior Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) and senior Caitlin Abelseth (Voorheesville, N.Y.) both ran 2:11.77, a two-second personal best for Abelseth. After a photo finish, Abelseth was credited with
the win by .008. Senior Taylor Corder (Corinth, Miss.) placed-third in her 800 meter debut in a time of 2:12.46. <br>

Senior Lauren Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y.) dominated the women’s 3,000 meters from start to finish. Mullins crossed the line in a time of 9:37.81, winning by 40 seconds.

In the women’s mile, Providence’s Katie Lembo (Penfield, N.Y.) took the win by eight seconds with a solo 4:57.12 performance after being paced for the first two laps.

The men’s mile came down to the last 100 meters with Providence junior Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England) and New England Distance’s Henry Sterling fighting for the win. Dixon pulled away with 75 meters to go, claiming the 2015 Friar Invitational men’s mile
title in a time of 4:08.54, while Sterling finished second (4:09.02).<br>

In the men’s 5,000 meters, freshman Thomas O’Neill (Middletown, N.J.) and sophomore Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland) both came away with personal bests. O’Neill placed second (14:31.82), while Armstrong finished third (14:32.73).<br>
<br>
Senior Phil Reid (Oceanport, N.J.) jumped 2.01 meters to win the high jump and 5.78 meters to win the long jump.<br>
<br>
To cap off the night, the Providence women (Molly Keating, Bryanna Allison, Katie Sischo and Caitlin Lawlor) won the 4x800 meter relay, crossing the line in a time of 10:11.81.
