– Providence College alum Julian Matthews ‘13 advanced to the semifinals of the men’s 1,500 meters at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China last night (Aug. 26). Matthews finished sixth in his heat in a time of 3:39.55, making him an automatic
qualifier for the semifinals.<br>
<br>
To advance to the World Championship 1,500 meter final, Matthews will need to finish in the top-5 of his heat for an automatic spot or have one of the two next fastest times.<br>
<br>
Matthews will compete in the second of two semifinals. The first semifinal is set for 7:55 a.m. ET and the second is set for 8:05 a.m. ET. The event can be viewed live online via
