<b>Providence Cross Country Competes At NCAA Cross Country Championships<o:p></o:p></b></p>

</b>The Providence College men’s and women’s Cross Country teams competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terra Haute, Ind. on Nov. 19. On a cold and windy day, the women finished 13<sup>th</sup> in the Women’s 6k while the men took 24<sup>th</sup>
in the Men’s 10k. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria;">The women’s race remained tightly packed until slightly after the half way point of the race. Juniors Millie Paladino (W. Va.) and Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia) ran close together
in the middle of the pack. Both Paladino and Ilarda moved up through the field over the last two thousand meters to finish in 55<sup>th
</sup>(20:34.3) and 68<sup>th</sup> (20:40.7) place, respectively. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria;">Graduate student Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) was the third Friar across the finish in 94<sup>th</sup> place (20:49.6).

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria;">Rounding out the scoring for the women was junior Katie Lembo in 138<sup>th</sup> place (20:59.5) and freshman Abbey Wheeler in 148<sup>th</sup> (21:03.7).

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria;">The men’s race played out similarly to the women’s race with the entire field remaining tightly packed for the majority of the race. Senior Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland)
and graduate student Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) fought to remain in the middle of the pack. Armstrong fought hard over the final three thousand meters of the race to lead Providence with a 75<sup>th</sup> place (30:43.7) finish. Oakley finished
second for the team in 119<sup>th</sup> place (31:02.2).<o:p></o:p></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria;">Graduate student Stephen Robertson (Wakefield, Mass.), junior Thomas O’Neill (Middletown, N.J.) and Trevor Crawley (Cumberland, R.I.) ran together for much of the race and finished
within four seconds of each other. Robertson was the third Friar finishing in 182<sup>nd</sup> place (31:28.9) followed closely by O’Neill in 183<sup>rd</sup> (31:30.3) and Crawley in 187<sup>th</sup> (31:32.0).
