Sport Excellence Awards on Wednesday, July 26. Providence College senior Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland) was announced as the winner of the Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Award for men’s outdoor track and field.</span></div>

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri;"><span style="">The Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST-sponsored sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances
and volunteer service to the community. Student-athletes who have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 are eligible. The winners are chosen by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.</span></div>

and field team, Armstrong has twice qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary meet in the 10,000 meters and also was named the 2017 Providence College Male Athlete of the Year for Individual Sports.</span></div>
