October 10, 2009 – The Providence College Men's XC team competed at the 97th running of the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston Massachusetts. The PC women did race anyone in the varsity race, but will be traveling to Penn State next Friday for the PSU Open. The men will have the next weekend off.
In the men’s race, PC didn’t run six of our top eight runners, but still finished 3rd overall. PC finished with 171 points behind first place team UMASS Lowell (93 points) and second place team UMASS Amherst (116 points). Providence was led by Sophomore Matt Terry who finished 13th overall in 25:02. Senior Michael Anderson and Sophomore Julian Matthews finished close together, with Anderson in 26th place with a time of 25:21 and Matthews in 28th place with a time of 25:23. Freshman Ahmed Ali was 47th place overall in 25:41 and Freshman Patrick DeSabato was 57th overall in 25:48.
