[Pcalumnixctrack] Three Athletes qualify for next round!

This past weekend was the first round of the NCAA Championships with the East preliminary round in Greensboro North Carolina. Providence College had a total of nine athletes at the meet with three athletes advancing to the second round in Eugene Oregon on June 9-12, 2010.

In the women’s 10,000m, Katie DiCamillo finished 3rd overall with a time of 34:43.44 and will advance to the second round of the championship. Shelby Greany place 2nd in her heat of the steeple with a time of 10:19.32 to finished 3rd overall and advanced to the second round in Eugene. In the trials of the 1500m, Charlotte Ffrench-O’Carroll finished 8th in her heat with a time of 4:27.12 which placed her 29th overall. In the 5,000m, Samantha Roecker finished 25th overall with a time of 16:53.00 and Emma Perron finished 35th in a time of 17:20.14.

In the men’s meet, both Julian Matthews and Dominic Channon qualified out of the trials with times of 3:48.90 and 3:48.97 respectively. In the next round, Julian and Dominic were both in the same heat with the pace going out slow. Julian finished 2nd in his heat to advance to second round of NCAA Championships with time of 3:51.44. Dominic finished 8th overall in the heat with a time of 3:53.56 but did not advance to second round of the championship. In the 10,000m Tom Webb finished 27th overall with a time of 31:49.55.

Up next for the Friars will be the second round of the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. PC will have three athletes representing with Katie DiCamillo in the 10k, Shelby Greany in the steeple, and Julian Matthews in the 1500m.
