Providence College’s Emily Sisson Places Sixth In 10,000 Meters At The USA Track & Field Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa – Providence College senior Emily Sisson placed sixth (33:27.23) in the finals of the 10,000 meters at the USA Track and Field Championships on Thursday, June 20 in Des Moines, Iowa. Sisson was running in her second USA Track Championships. Shalane Flanagan won the race in a time of 31:43.20.
Sisson qualified for the USA Track and Field Championships 10,000 meters with a career best time of 33:02.88 after winning the 2013 BIG EAST Championship title in Piscataway, N.J. on May, 3-5. The qualifying time for the Championships is 33:20.00.

Sisson competed at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials last year in the 5,000 meters finishing 12th in a time of 15:34.68. She has had a very successful year on the track. During the indoor season, she won the BIG EAST 3,000 meter title and earned Second-Team All-America honors for her ninth place finish in the 5,000 meters (15:54.73) at the 2013 NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field Championships. In the outdoor season, Sisson captured another BIG EAST title in the 10,000 meters. She also earned First-Team All-America accolades for her most recent performance at the 2013 NCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5,000 meters after finishing 6th in a time of 15:58.40.
