Providence College Women's Cross Country Staff Named BIG EAST Staff Of The
Year

Treacy led the women to their sixth cross country BIG EAST title.

Providence, R.I. - The Providence College women's cross country staff was
named BIG EAST Women's Cross Country Staff of the Year as voted on by the
league's coaches on Saturday, Nov. 2, following the capture of the women's
BIG EAST Championship title.

Head Coach Ray Treacy and Assistant Coach Kevin Myles were named BIG EAST
Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the women's program to their sixth
BIG EAST title. Treacy and Myles have led the women to an impressive season
thus far, claiming five of the seven races they have competed in.

Those five wins included an impressive first place finish at the Boston
College Invitational, which housed the reigning 2012 Division I National
Champions, third-ranked Oregon, as well as No. 9 Cornell and No. 24 Boston
College. The two also led the women to a third place finish at the Wisconsin
Adidas Invitational, one of the most competitive meets of the season, on
Oct. 19.

In 30 seasons, Treacy has been one of the nation's most successful coaches,
coaching 59 All-Americans, who have received 159 All-America accolades. He
has also coached 13 NCAA individual champions in cross country and track, 44
BIG EAST individual champions and 11 Olympians. In addition, his teams have
captured one NCAA Cross Country Championship, 12 NCAA Northeast Regional
Cross Country Championships, 21 BIG EAST Cross Country titles and 20 New
England Championships.

As the men's track head coach and the assistant coach of the cross country
and women's track teams, Myles is at the halfway point of his fourth season
with the Friars. He has contributed in capturing two individual BIG EAST
titles, one cross country BIG EAST title, four All-Americans, four indoor
track and field BIG EAST titles, one Northeast Regional cross country title
(guiding that team to a second place finish at the NCAA Cross Country
Championships, its highest finish since 1995 when they won the title).

"It is a great honor to receive this award and it is a result of great
performances by our women's team this year, especially at the conference
championships on Saturday," Treacy shared.

Treacy and Myles will continue to push for success as the men's and women's
cross country teams compete at the Northeast Regional Championships on
Friday, Nov. 15 in Bronx, N.Y. at Van Cortlandt Park. The two teams will
look to qualify for the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships
to be held in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 23.
