Emily Sisson Named BIG EAST Female Athlete Of The Week

Sisson earned the honor with a first place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational.



Providence, R.I. - Providence College senior Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) from the women’s cross country team was named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Sisson is the first Friar to be recognized from the women’s team since now sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) earned the award on Oct. 16, 2012.



Sisson led the Friars to their second win of the 2013 season with a first place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14. Sisson finished the 5k race in a time of 17:44.67 to earn her second top-two finish this season. Sisson and the Friars earned the win with 26 points against Columbia (42), Stony Brook (79) and Marist (93).



Sisson and the Friars are back in action on Friday, Sept. 27 when the team will compete in the Boston College Invitational in Boston, Mass. The meet is set to be held in Franklin Park at 3:00 p.m.
