Providence College Men’s Indoor Track Competes At URI Invitational

The Friars notched a first-place finish in the distance medley and 3000 meter run.


KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College men’s indoor track and field team competed at the URI Coaches Invitational yesterday (Feb. 1). The Friars captured first in the men’s distance medley with a time of 10:09.63.


Sophomore Austin King (Kempton, Pa.) finished the 400 meter event with a time of 49.20 for a sixth-place finish. Classmate Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) captured third-place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.50.


In the 1000 meter run, sophomore Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England) claimed second with a time of 2:30.64.


Sophomore Christian Costello (Ridgewood, N.J.) captured first in the 3000 meter run with a personal-best time of 8:34.44. Freshman Hugh Armstrong (Balina, County Mayo, Ireland) finished third in the race with a personal record of 8:35.60.


Providence is back in action Friday, Feb. 7 in Boston Mass. at the Valentine Invitational. The meet is set to begin at noon.
