Providence College Women’s Track Claims Four First Place Finishes At Uri Invitational
Roecker finished the 3000 meter run with an ECAC Championship qualifying time.

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College women’s track and field team competed at the URI Sorlien Invitational today (Jan. 18). The Friars ­saw four first place finishes, including a win in the 4 x 800m relay.

Sophomore Devyn Pryor (Dartmouth, Mass.) earned a first place finish in the 1000 meter run with a 3:01.73. Pryor was joined by senior Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) on the podium. McCarthy finished first in the one mile run with a time of 5:04.59.

Graduate student Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) finished first in the women’s 3000 meter run with a time of 9:36.01, 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Roecker’s time was an ECAC Championship qualifying time in the 3000 meters.

Providence claimed third in the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 4:07.35. The Friars went on to finish first in the 4 x 800 relay with a time of 9:31.49.

The Friars are back in action Friday, Jan. 24, when they compete at the Boston University Terrier Invitational. The meet is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
