Emily Sisson Named USTFCCCA National Athlete Of The Week

Sisson finished fourth in the 3,000 meters at the Millrose Games in a personal best time of 8:52.60

NEW ORLEANS, La. -  It was announced on Monday, Feb. 16 that Providence College senior track runner Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named USTFCCCA National Female Athlete of the Week.

Sisson received the honor for her performance at the Millrose Games in the Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 14 in the 3,000 meters. Sisson ran a time of 8:52.60, marking the second fastest 3,000 meters run at Providence College, as well as the fifth fastest time in NCAA history. Amongst a stacked field, the she finished fourth in the race as the top American and collegian, ahead of the 2014 NCAA Cross Country Champion, Kate Ivory.

Sisson and the Friars will be back in action on Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in the Bronx, N.Y. for the BIG EAST Championships at the Armory.
