Sisson Named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Female Outdoor Track Athlete Of The Year

Sisson claims USTFCCCA Northeast Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year prior to NCAA Championship.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today that graduate-student Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Outdoor Female Track Athlete of the Year.

Sisson earned the honor for her performances during the outdoor season thus far. She claimed the Penn Relays 3,000-meter title on April 24 and also won the BIG EAST 5,000-meter title on May 9. Along with the conference title, Sisson broke her own meet record (15:40.64). In addition, Sisson ran the fourth-fastest collegiate time in the 10,000 meters at the Payton Jordan Invitational in a time of 31:38.03.

The honor also is Sisson's second Northeast Region Track Athlete of the Year Award. Her first one came during the indoor season.

Up next for the 2015 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meter title and record holder is the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. this week (June 10-13).
