PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Graduate-students Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) will compete at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week in Eugene, Ore. The Championships begin on Wednesday (June 10) with the men's events on the first and third days, while the women will compete on Thursday (June 11) and Saturday (June 13).

First up for the Friars, Nagel will be competing in her final collegiate race at the championship. This season at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, Nagel finished third in the 10,000-meters on May 8 and then followed it up the next day by helping the 4x800-meter relay team to a second-place finish and Providence College school record. At the NCAA East First Round, she went on to finish eighth in the 10,000 meters, improving on her season best (34:11.65) and advancing to the NCAA Championship final. Nagel is set to compete in the 10,000-meter final at 9:38 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 11.

Finally, Sisson will compete for her second NCAA title, also in her final collegiate race. She has had a stellar year on the track thus far. Sisson broke the NCAA indoor 5,000 meter record (15:12.22), held by former Friar Kim Smith, at the BIG EAST Championship on Feb. 28. Following her collegiate record, she went on to win the NCAA indoor 5,000 meter title on Mar. 13 and then backed-up that performance with a third-place finish in the 3,000 meters the next day to give the Friar women an 11th-place team finish. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships on May 8, Sisson dominated the 5,000 meters, breaking her own meet record (15:40.31) and winning by over a minute, eventually being named BIG EAST Most Outstanding Female Track Athlete of the meet. At the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, Fla., Sisson yet again broke her own stadium record at Hodges Stadium to propel her to a first-place finish in the 5,000. She will head to Eugene as the favorite for the 5,000-meter race, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 13.
