Emily Sisson Named Bowerman Trophy Semifinalist
Sisson named a semifinalist for collegiate track & fields highest individual honor.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - It was announced today (June 23) by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) that two-time NCAA Champion Emily Sisson was named a Bowerman Trophy Semifinalist. Sisson is one of 10 other female student-athletes in contention for the honor.

The Bowerman Trophy is the collegiate track and field's highest individual honor. The award debuted in 2009 and is presented annually to one female and one male. In total, the winners from the award's first five years have won three Olympic Medals, two World Championships and six World Championships medals. The past finalists for the award have earned a combined seven Olympic medals, four World Championships and 17 World Championships medals.

Sisson had a stellar final year as a Friar. She won two NCAA titles in the 5,000 meters indoors and outdoors, as well as breaking former Friar Kim Smith's NCAA indoor 5,000 meter record. In addition to her two individual NCAA titles, Sisson capped off her career at Providence with 10 All-America honors, seven BIG EAST individual titles and the 2013 NCAA women's cross country team title.
