Providence Men’s Cross Country To Compete At Princeton Inter-Regional Meet
The men will compete at the Princeton Inter-Regional Meet on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Providence, R.I. – The Providence College men’s cross country team is set to compete at the Princeton Inter-Regional Meet in Princeton, N.J. this Saturday (Oct. 3). The men are undefeated so far this season, with a top-5 sweep at the UNH Tri-Meet (Sept. 5) and a win at the Nassaney Invitational (Sept. 12).

Leading the Friars on Saturday will be senior Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand). Oakley made his season debut at the Nassaney Invitational on Sept. 12, finishing one second behind the winner to take second-place. For his performance he was named BIG EAST Athlete of the Week (Sept. 15).

Juniors Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, Country Mayo, Ireland) and Trevor Crawley (Cumberland, R.I.) will join Oakley at Princeton. Last time out, Armstrong finished just three seconds behind Oakley for a fourth-place finish at Bryant, while Crawley finished 10th in the same race.

Seniors Stephen Robertson (Wakefield, Mass.) and Christian Costello (Ridgewood, N.J.) will also step up to the line on Saturday. Robertson was the third Friar across the line at the Nassaney Invitational (seventh overall), while Costello rounded out the top-5 scores with a 13th-place finish.

Sophomores Thomas O’Neill (Middletown, N.J.) and Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland) will return from a one week hiatus from racing. O’Neill and Hanlon finished 1-2 in the Friars’ first race of the season at New Hampshire and will look to contribute this weekend.

In the latest USTFCCCA national rankings poll (Sept. 29), the men held their No. 24 ranking and remained at No. 3 in the Northeast Region. At Princeton, the Friars will be up against No. 19 Indiana, No. 29 UNC, Virginia Tech, Princeton, Columbia, Duke, and William and Mary among other teams.
