Providence College Cross Country Sweeps Weekly BIG EAST Awards
Catarina Rocha and Julian Oakley named BIG EAST Athletes Of the Week.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - It was announced on Tuesday, September 15, that Providence College women's cross country junior Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and men's cross country senior Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) were named BIG EAST Athletes of the Week.

Rocha earned the honor after her second-consecutive win this past weekend.  Rocha helped the Friars sweep the Nassaney Invitational on Sept. 12, winning the 5km race in a time of 16:48.0. Rocha is currently undefeated this season.

Oakley received the accolade for his second-place finish at the Nassaney Invitational in his season debut for the Friars. Oakley also helped his team capture a first-place finish at the meet.

Rocha and the Providence women's cross country team will be back in action on Sept. 25 when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown. Oakley and the men will compete next at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 3.
