Providence College Women’s Cross Country Ranked Third In The Nation
The women jumped five spots in the national rankings after their performance at the Coast-to-Coast Battle In Beantown, while the men hold their No. 24 ranking.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its third national poll of the season today (Sept. 29). The Providence College women moved up five spots to a No. 3 ranking, while the men held their No. 24 ranking.

Last time out, the women showed their dominance at the Coast-to-Coast Battle In Beantown after winning the team title with just 42 points. The Friars put their top-6 runners in the top-21, including a third and fourth-place finish from junior Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Sarah Collins (Basil, Switzerland), respectively.

Prior to this week’s poll, the Providence women held a No. 8 ranking in the first and second polls of the season.

The men did not race this past week but held their No. 24 ranking from last week’s poll (Sept. 22).

The women will return to action on Oct. 10 when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. for the New England Championships, while the men will compete this Saturday (Oct. 3) when they travel to Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational.
