Brianna Ilarda and Jordan Mann Set To Compete At NCAA Outdoor Championships
Ilarda and Mann will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. on June 8-11.

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Providence College men's and women's track teams will have two student-athletes represent the Friars at this years' NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship Finals in Eugene, Ore. this week (June 8-11).

On the women's side, sophomore Brianna Ilarda will make her first NCAA Outdoor Championship appearance in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Ilarda has run a personal best or close to it in every steeplechase race she has competed in this season. She advanced on time to Eugene after finishing fourth (10:00.12) in her heat at the NCAA First Round in Jacksonville, Fla. on Fri. 27. She is ranked 11th heading into the Championship event.

The women's 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinal is set for 8:02 p.m. on June 9. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. Ilarda will have to finish in the top-5 in her semifinal or have one of the next two best times to advance to the final, which is scheduled for a 6:54 p.m. ET start on June 11. Coverage of the June 11 events also will be on ESPN, starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

On the men's side, graduate-student Jordan Mann (St. Louis, Mo.) will compete in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. It is also Mann's first appearance in Eugene. To qualify, Mann grabbed third-place to automatically qualify spot in his heat in Jacksonville for the NCAA First Round, as well as running a lifetime best of 8:38.28. Mann is ranked third in the field heading into the Championships.

The men's 3,000 meter steeplechase semifinals are scheduled for an 8:02 p.m. ET start on June 8. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN2, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Mann, like Ilarda, needs to finish in the top-5 in his semifinal or have one of the next two best times to advance to the final on June 10, which is set for an 8:54 p.m. ET start. The final will be broadcast live on ESPN, starting at 8:30 p.m.
