Providence College Men's and Women's Track Qualify Nine Runners For NCAA First Round
Five men and four women will represent the Friars at the NCAA First Round in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 26-28.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's track teams qualified nine student-athletes for this years' NCAA First Round in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 26-28. Five men and four women will represent the Friars as they look to advance to the NCAA Championships.

On the women's side, sophomore Brianna Ilarda (Perth, Australia) is seeded as the No. 8 runner in the East in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Ilarda ran her qualifying time at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend where she took home her first BIG EAST title in a time of 9:59.54.

Classmate Katie Lembo (Penfield, N.Y.) qualified in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 16:11.53. Lembo secured her time at the Ocean State Invitational on April 15 and sits at No. 12 in the East.

Rounding out the women, junior Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Sarah Collins (Basel, Switzerland) each qualified in the 10,000 meters. Rocha is seeded at No. 8 after she posted a time of 33:40.30 at the Stanford Invitational on April 1, while Collins ranks 14th in the east after her 34:03.07 performance at the Penn Relays on April 28.

On the men's side, senior Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) posted a time of 3:42.99 at the Wolf Pack Last Chance Meet to secure himself a spot at the NCAA First Round. Oakley currently sits 18th in the East.

Graduate-student Jordan Mann (St. Louis, Mo.) will finish out his collegiate career in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Mann ranks 25th in the east after winning the event at the Ocean State Invitational with a time of 8:52.36.

Junior Trevor Crawley (Cumberland, R.I.) qualified in the men's 5,000 meters and ranks 47th in the East heading into the First Round. Crawley secured his spot after posting a time of 14:09.19 for second-place at the Ocean State Invitational.

Finally, graduate-student Liam Hillery (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior Hugh Armstrong (Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland) will each compete in the 10,000 meters. Hillery ranks No. 20 in the east after his 29:22.38 performance at Penn Relays, while Armstrong clocked in at 29:16.73 at the Stanford Invitational to qualify and earn a No. 15.

To advance to the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore. on June 8-11, each athlete needs to finish among the top-12 in their respective heats.
