Providence Cross Country Sweeps Cross Country Athlete Of The Week Awards

Graduate student Catarina Rocha and senior Aaron Hanlon won the awards for their performances at the Battle-In-Beantown.



NEW YORK, N.Y. –The BIG EAST announced its weekly Cross Country awards on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Graduate student Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland) were both named BIG EAST Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Battle-In-Beantown on Friday, Sept. 22.



Rocha finished fourth overall with a time of 17:04 at the Battle-in-Beantown to lead the Friars to their third team title in a row and the fourth in the last five years. Despite rainy and muddy conditions, Rocha ran her second fastest time ever on the course.



Hanlon was the top finisher for Providence at the Battle-in-Beantown. Hanlon finished 24th overall with a time of 24:50 to lead the Friars to a seventh place team finish.



Both Rocha and Hanlon will race next at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13.
