Providence Women’s Cross Country Remains Ranked Eighth In Latest Poll

The Friars’ dropped a single spot in the latest poll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The USTFCCCA released the third National and Regional Rankings polls of the regular season on Tuesday, Sept. 25. The latest poll of the season ranked Providence eighth in the nation and first in the Northeast region.

The top ten teams in the women’s poll are now Colorado (1), Oregon (2), New Mexico (3), Michigan (4), Stanford (5), San Francisco (6), NC State (7), Providence (8) and then Arkansas and Penn State, who are both tied for ninth. After having been ranked seventh since the initial poll of the season, the Friars moved to eighth in the polls due in main part to a strong performance by San Francisco at the Roy Griak Invitational. This move comes despite Providence winning the Battle-in-Beantown Invitational on Friday, Sept. 22.

The women will next race at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, Oct. 13.
