Providence Track Races At The Brown Springtime Invitational

The Friars will race next at the BIG EAST Championships.



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence track & field teams competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 29. The invitational is the Friars last meet before the BIG EAST Championships.



The Friars had six athletes finish in the top three of their events:

- Liam Harris (Douglas, County Cork, Ireland) won the men’s steeplechase with a time of 9:13.32.

- Michael O’Leary (St. James, N.Y.) won the men’s 1,500 meters with a time of 3:52.29.

- Ryan Jendzejec (Chappaqua, N.Y.) finished second overall in the men’s 800 with a personal best time of 1:52.17

- Chris Shanahan (Westwood, Mass.) finished third in the javelin with a throw of 55.01m.

- Daniel Rooney (Rochester, N.Y.) finished third in the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.28.

- Mackenzie Barry (Mendham, N.J.) placed third in the women’s 3,000 meters with a time of 10:23.86.



The Friars will travel to Geneva, Ohio to race at the Spire Institute for the BIG EAST Championships on May 11-12.
