Paladino Qualifies For NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
The Championships will take place on March 9-10 in College Station, Texas
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA released the list of qualifiers for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 28. Senior Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W. Va.) qualified for the championships in the women’s mile. This will be the second time Paladino competes at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the Friars.
In order to qualify the NCAA Championships, an individual must run a time that ranks in the top-16 in the nation.
Paladino has had a standout season for Providence. She opened her season in the 3,000 meters at the BU Season Opener where she ran a time of 9:05.10, the sixth fastest in Friar history. At the BU Valentine Invitational, Paladino raced to a time of 4:31.98. The time stands as the second fastest ever indoors for Providence, behind only Kim Smith’s 4:30.61. At the BIG EAST Championships, Paladino helped the Friars to a third place finish in the Distance Medley Relay and won the 3,000 meters by a staggering 12 seconds. With the win in the 3,000 meters, Paladino became the sixth woman in BIG EAST history to have won both a mile and 3,000-meter title in her career. She enters the NCAA Championships ranked fourth in the mile.
The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place on March 9-10 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Paladino will compete in the trials of the mile on Friday March 9 at 6:50 p.m. ET.
