Former Friar Kim Smith Wins B.A.A. 10K
Distance star tunes up for Olympics by breaking course record.
BOSTON, MASS. – Former Providence College distance standout Kim Smith ’05 earned first place in the prestigious Boston Athletic Association 10K on Sunday, June 24.
The Friar great and four-time NCAA Champion crossed in a time of 31:36, breaking the women’s course record for the event by 22 seconds. The effort bettered a field that included the last two Boston Marathon Champions.
Smith will now turn her attention to the Olympics. She is slated to compete in the women’s marathon on August 5.
