Sisson Advances to 5000-meter Final at Olympic Trials
Providence College rising junior will be one of 16 to run for Olympic berths.

EUGENE, OREGON – Providence College distance standout Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) has advanced to the final of the 5000-meters at the US Track and Field Olympic Trials.

The rising junior, running in the first of two semifinal heats, placed eighth with a time of 15:52.37. While the top six runners from each of the two semifinals automatically advance, Sisson’s effort was strong enough to qualify based on time.

She will now compete with 15 other runners in the 5000-meter final on Thursday, June 28. The race goes off at 10:15 p.m. eastern time and can be seen on the NBC Sports Network.
