Providence College Women’s Cross Country Lands Three In Top-Ten At Adidas Invitational
Sisson turned in her fourth top-three performance of the season.

Madison, Wis. – The Providence College women’s cross country team competed at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational today (Oct. 19). The Friars finished third with 191 points and three top-ten finishers out of a field of 37 teams, including 16 top-30 teams.

Providence faced No. 3 Arizona, No. 4 Washington, No. 7 New Mexico, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 Michigan State and No. 10 San Francisco. The Friars also ran against northeast regional schools and nationally ranked No. 13 Dartmouth, No. 15 Cornell and No. 24 Boston College. Arizona took the meet with 117 points, while Arkansas ran to a second place finish with 136 points.

Senior Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was the Friars’ top finisher with a second place finish in a time of 19:44 in the 6k race. Sisson was followed by sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland), who ran to a fifth place finish in a time of 19:53 as the second Friar to cross the finish line. Senior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) was the third Friar to finish with a top-ten time. Nagel claimed the ninth spot with a time of 20:00.

Freshman Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) was the fourth Providence runner to score, with a 37th place finish in a time of 20:31. Sophomore Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) was the final Friar to score with a time of 21:20 for a 138th place finish.

Senior Erin Murphy (Easton, Mass.) was the next Friar to finish. With a time of 22:25, Murphy claimed the 254th spot. Freshman Bryanna Allison (Lowell, Mass) followed Murphy with a time of 22:35 and a 260th place finish.

The Friars third place finish was a three spot improvement from Providence’s sixth place finish at last year’s Wisconsin Adidas Invitational.

Providence is back in action on Oct. 25, when the team will look to compete at the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn. It will be the final meet before the Friars head to the BIG EAST Championships in Kenosha, Wis. on Nov. 2.
