Sisson earned the honor after running 15:21.8 in the 5,000 meters on Saturday, Dec. 6.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the BIG EAST Conference announced its first set of weekly indoor track awards.

Senior Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the BU Season Opener on Saturday, Dec. 6. Sisson finished second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 15.21.8. Her time now ranks as the fifth fastest time run in NCAA history for 5,000 meters indoors. Two of the other fastest 5,000 meter times were run by Providence College Alum and NCAA Champion Kim Smith '05. All-time, Sisson now is the fourth fastest collegian at the distance.

The Friars are back in action after the Christmas break on Jan. 24 at the URI Sorlien Invitational.
