Emily Sisson Named To Bowerman Trophy Watch List

The Bowerman Trophy is presented to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track and field athletes in the nation.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - On Thursday, Mar. 5, graduate-student Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) was one of ten female student-athletes named to The Bowerman Trophy Pre-NCAA Championships Women's Watch List. This marks the first time Sisson has featured on the list.

The Bowerman Trophy was first awarded in 2009. It is presented to the most outstanding male and female collegiate athletes in the nation by the USTFCCCA. Performances from both the indoor and outdoor seasons are considered when deciding an award winner.

Past winners of the award have combined for three Olympic medals and six World Championship medals, including the World Champion and decathlon world-record holder Ashton Eaton (2010), 10,000-meter Olympic silver medalist Galen Rupp (2009) and 2011 IAAF 1,500 meter World Champion Jenny Simpson (2009).

After Sisson's collegiate record breaking performance in the 5,000 meters (15:12.22) at the 2015 BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships, she will look to win her first NCAA title on Mar. 13-14 at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
