Sarah Collins and Julian Oakley Earn Providence’s Female and Male Scholar Athlete Award
Collins and Oakley will receive $2000 in graduate scholarship.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The BIG EAST Conference released the recipients of the Institutional Female and Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award today (Feb. 19). Senior cross country and track standouts, Sarah Collins (Basel, Switzerland) and Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) were named the Providence College award winners. Each individual winner will receive $2000 toward graduate studies.

To this date, Collins has earned four All-American honors, including three in cross country (2012, 2013 and 2015) and a Second Team All-America honor in the 5,000 meters outdoors in 2014. Collins was also a member of the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championship team.

Oakley earned his first All-America honor during the 2015 indoor track season in the mile and has had multiple second-place finishes in BIG EAST Championship finals. He also was the Friar men’s top performer during the 2016 season in cross country.
